The table below illustrates the food consumption per person weekly in five categories (vegetables, meat, wheat, beans, and cheese) in a European country over the span of 20 years, starting from 1992.
Overall, there were upward trends in the amount of vegetables, wheat, beans, and cheese consumed per person weekly, while the figure for meat showed a downward trend. Noticeably, the amount of vegetables and meat consumed per person exceeded that of the other categories.
From 1992 to 2012, the amount of vegetables experienced a steady increase. Additionally, after a sharp rise of around 83 kilograms between 1992 and 2002, the figure for wheat climbed significantly to reach 97 kilograms at the end of the period. Likewise, the amount of beans consumed per person rose significantly by approximately 58 kilograms from 1992 to 2012. However, after increasing from 113 kilograms in 1992 to 125 kilograms in 2002, the figure for cheese levelled out at around 125 kilograms over the given period.
In contrast, the amount of meat consumed per person climbed gradually by around 63 kilograms between 1992 and 2002. This was followed by a considerable reduction from 1211 kilograms in 2002 to 1132 kilograms in 2012.
