The table illustrates proportion of employment patterns for women and men in New Zealand from 1993 to 2003.
It’s remarkable that the male workers in Manufacturing, Building, Information Technology, and Farming were far higher than female workers in 1993 and 2003. But the other occupations’ male workers were lower than female workers in 1993 and 2003.
The proportion of male workers in Information Technology was the biggest than other occupations, which was at 80% in 1993 and 70% in 2003. Contrary to the male, female workers in Information Technology was the lowest one in 1993 and 2003. The number of female workers in service was the largest than others, which was far higher than that of male.
It was noticeable that the proportion of the men working in Manufacturing, Building, Information Technology, and Farming was decreased from 1993 to 2003, and both the number of services and commerce male workers increased. The gaps between these proportion of male and female working in commerce and services were narrowed from 1993 to 2003. Specially, the proportion of male worker and female workers in Commerce became equal in 2003.
