Overall, the greatest increase of Milan citizens could be seen in using metro, while taxis showed the lowest increase over the period given. At the beginning and end of the period, the most commonly used modes of transport were trains and metro, while buses were in average demand.
In 2010, there were 7.3 million passengers using public transport in Milan, but by 2014 this figure had approximately doubled to over 14 million. The greatest number of people used metro and trains rising from 3 million to 5 million and 1.4 million to 3.6 million respectively.
All other public transports show a steadily increase of under 0.2-0.3 million from 2010 to 2014. The number of Milan passengers used buses and trams rose to 2.4 million and 2.2 million respectively.
