Additionally, Germany had the highest percentage of people over 65 years old and is excepted to remain at the top spot in 2030. Meanwhile, it can be seen that the UK had the lowest proportion and it is projected that it will remain the lowest in 2030.
Between 1988 and 2000, Germany and Canada experienced a 5% increase, reaching about 25% and 21%, respectively, whereas the proportion of people 65 years old and above in the UK had relatively little change, remaining just under 15% in both years.
By 2030, it is expected that the population of people aged 65 will have grown in three countries. The percentage is forecast to reach 30% in Germany, 26% in Canada, and 20% in the UK.
