Overall, it is clear that the amount of waste production in most of countries witnessed upward trends, except for that of Korean. Remarkably, over a twenty-year period, US always stayed at highest point.
A closer examination of data reveals that in 1980, 131 millions of tonnes was produced in US, and it increased continuously to 192 millions of tonnes in 2000. Over the timeframe, the amount of waste production in US always took the lion’s share at 192 millions of tonnes. Stimutanously, that of Japan witnessed a similar trend, albeit at much lower level, specifically from 28 to 53 millions of tonnes. Moreover, in 1980, Korean did not record the data, it started staying at 31 millions of tonnes in 1990, and significantly decreased to 19 millions of tonnes.
According other countries, in 1980, the amount of waste production in Poland staying at 4, was two times higher than that of Portugal. Twenty years later, the waste production in Poland and Portugal experienced slight increase of 2,6 and 3 millions of tonnes, respectively. In Ireland, the figure for waste production considerably rose from 0,6 to 5 millions of tonnes. It had the similar data to that of Portugal in 2000.
