This graph shows the average percentage of household earnings spending on food in specific countries over the period of 50 years. This information is given for France, Japan, Korea, Mexico, and the USA.
The percentage of household income which was spent on food in France gradually decreased from 1960 to 2000 at 31.4 percent to 10.3 percent, respectively although there was only one increase for the first year at 29.6 percent. It appears to be in the percentage in Korea. It started to rise from 30.4 to 37.1 percent from 1950 to 1960 followed by continuing falling up to 8.7 percent in 2000.
Other two countries, Japan and the USA experienced gradual drops throughout the 50 years to the extent of 30.3 to 7.4 percent in Japan, 20.6 to 6.2 in the USA. in order.
There was an only exception among four countries, Mexico saw a gradual fall in the period of 40 years from 28.7 percent to 19.5 percent although there was a slight growth in the household expenditure on food at 24.9 percent in 2000.
Overall, almost all countries ended up decreasing in the interval of 50 years besides Mexico.
