The data presented in the table demonstrates the changes in numbers of visitors to four national museums in the USA from 2005 to 2015.
Overall, three national museums first experienced an increase in number of guests and then a decrease, ultimately having more visitors at the end of the period than at the beginning, while the percentage of visitors to American Indian museum had been declining over the whole period of time. Air and Space and Natural History museums were visited by the greatest number of people in 2005, 2010 and 2015 compared to others.
In 2005, Air and Space and Natural History museums had the biggest number of 6.1 and 5.6 million of visitors respectively, then their numbers grew by 36% and 21% in 2010. Although, these figures had dropped by the year of 2015, these two museums had seen the most visitors, with 6.2 million. By 2010, visitation to the museum of American History as well had increased by 40% and then had decreased by 14%, remaining approximately at the same grade as in the beginning of the period – 3.6 million of people.
The smallest figures were demonstrated by American Indian museum, gradually declining from the number of 2.2 million visitors in 2005 to 1.3 million in 2010 and finishing with 1.1 million of guests in 2015.
