The table illustrates the proportion of health expenditure in total GDP, examined in five distinct nations namely Japan, Italy, France, Germany and the USA in 2022. From an overall perspective, the USA predominated in total healthcare spending among all the countries and was the only country whose private spending exceeded the public one.
As can be inferred from the table, the total health investing of America represented 40%, surpassing Germany, France, and Italy by 5%, 10%, and 15% respectively. Meanwhile, the percentage of GDP funding to the health sector in Japan was half of the USA, occupying a mere 20%.
In terms of the public expenditure, a negligible disparity was witnessed in the USA, Germany and France with figures being 17%, 18% and 15% consequently whilst Japan and Italy recorded the similar pattern with 10% of GDP. In the meantime, the private healthcare spending of America took the lead with 20% surveyed, outpacing the figures of Germany and France by 5% to 7%. Besides, individual outlay in Italy and Japan jointly reported insignificant portions at only 8% and 5% correspondingly.
