The table illustrates the proportion of men and women in terms of their employment in four different sectors: retail/shop, health, manufacturing, and tourism in a town over three different years 1990,2000 and 2010.
Overall, it is clear that the employment patterns of men and women saw varying degrees of increase and decrease. Male employment in retail is stable, while females’ pattern increased over the given period.
Looking more closely, we can notice that in retail and shop males proportion stays unchanged at 13%, while women’s proportion was 7% in 1990 and increased slightly to 9% in 2010. Similarly, in the health section males’proportion rose slightly from 7% to 9% between 1990 and 2010, respectively, whereas females’ participation grew more significantly from 9% in 1990 to 15% in 2010s.
Turning to the manufacturing sector,it’s evident that men’s participation was 30% in 1990, but it experienced a gradual decrease, falling to 10%. A similar pattern can be observed in womans’ sector in 1990, their participation proportion was 7%, and in 2010 it is also saw a slight fall, decreasing to 3%.
