The given table compares two genders in terms of the proportion of drivers by bike of age bracket in one town in 2011
It is noticeable that female groups had higher percentages of those who use bicycles to travel than males. However, both females and males witnessed a downward trend from the 0-9 to the 40-59 age group, followed by a surprising increase in the 60+ age group.
It can be seen that people whose ages are 0 to 9 had the highest rates in both two sex groups, at nearly 52% and 51%, respectively. The second highest figures in the table were for the 10-17 age group, while the percentage for females decreased from 51.3% to 42.2%, and for males, the percentage dropped significantly from 50.3% to 24.6%.
Looking more closely at the table, there was were the lowest proportions of bike travel in each every cohort from ages 40-59, at 12.3% and 8.0%. By contrast to the downward trend in both groups, the number of people aged 60 and upward who commute by bicycle increased from 12.3% to 18.5% (female) and from 8.0% to 13.2% (male).
