Overall, women made up a significant share of the total workforce in most countries, except for Egypt, but their representation in management was considerably lower, with the exception of the US and Australia.
In terms of the total workforce, Japan had the highest proportion of women, at 48%, followed closely by the US, at 46%. Australia and Sri Lanka shared similar shares of women in the total workforce, at 42% and 41%, respectively. Egypt recorded the lowest proportion, with one-fifth (20%) of its workers being women.
Regarding the participation of women in the management sector, Australia and the US led with 43% of women, significantly higher than that of Egypt (12%) and Japan (17%). Notably, a mere 9% of women in the total workforce was working in this sector, the lowest figure of the table.
