The table illustrates the amount of water used for three purposes, namely domestic use, industry and agriculture, among four different nations.
Overall, the water usage for domestic purposes is the lowest among categories. In addition, Egypt’s water consumption for agriculture is higher than other countries.
As can be seen from the table, the highest water usage for agriculture is by Egypt at 82 percent, compared with Saudi Arabia at 64 percent. Furthermore, with 10 percent, the amount of water provided for industry in Egypt is 3 times lower than that figure of Saudi Arabia, with 30 percent. In the meanwhile, the proportion of water used in domestic use of both Egypt and Saudi Arabia accounts for a small part with 8 percent and 6 percent, respectively.
Of the other countries, the percentage of water for industry in Canada is 70 percent, which is higher than that of New Zealand, which was 46 percent . Moreover, Canada uses the amount of water for agriculture, which is about four times as little as the figure in New Zealand. Besides that, the proportion of water consumption in New Zealand is 10 percent, which is half of the figure of Canada, which is 20 percent.
