The table illustrates how water is distributed for three different purposes in four countries.
Overall, the majority of water consumption data is used in agricultural activities of Egypt, followed by industrial purposes of Canada. In contrast, domestic use makes up a smaller proportion compared to the other two purposes in most countries, except for Canada.
Regarding Egypt, agriculture purposes comprise the biggest proportion, totaling a significant 82%, which is more than that in Saudi Arabia, selected by 64% of survey water usage. Meanwhile, 30% of water consumption is recorded for industry purposes, which is five times higher than domestic use in Saudi Arabia. In contrast, industry and domestic activities require nearly equal amounts of water, accounting for 10% and 8%, respectively.
In terms of the remaining countries, agriculture activities show a significantly lower water consumption, while domestic and industry demonstrate a higher proportion than that in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Water used in industry is most prominent in Canada, making up 70%, this compared to just 46% in New Zealand. Canada allocates 10% towards agriculture, which is less than four times in New Zealand, which contributes 44% to the overall water usage. Domestic use takes up a small amount of water consumption in New Zealand and Canada, which are 10% and 20%, respectively.
