Overall, there was a steady increase in the number of people and their income in all group. The highest proportion was recorded in the group 25,000 dollars – 40,000 dollars, whereas the lowest proportion was recorded in group over 60,000 dollars.
It is clear that in the $15,000-25,000 group, the number of people between 1985 and 1995 declined slightly between 37,000 and 35,200 at 41 percent and 31 percent respectively. In the next 10 years, it continued falling sharply to 28,000 at 18 percent. In contrast, the figure for the number of people in group $25,000-40,000 in 2005 (64,000) was over 2 times as many as the figure in 1985 (29,300).
Similarly , the figure for $40,000-60,000 experienced the same trend when it rose around twofold from 16,500 to 45,000 after 20 years between 19 percent in 1985 and 29 percent in 2005. In addition, the number of high earners ( over $60,000) experienced a slight increase , reaching a peak of 19,500. After standing at 7 percent in 1985, the figure doubled to reach just 12 percent in 2005.
