The table illustrates the changes in the proportion of tourist visits to 9 different countries in 2009 and 2010 alongside their percentage measurements. Overall, France remained predominant in the number of tourist arrivals, closely followed by the USA. Notably, the number of visits to all countries increased, albeit to varying degrees, except for Hong Kong.
Regarding the countries hosting the most tourists, Spain and the UK both demonstrated 55 million tourists in 2009; however, the gap between those two countries became slightly more pronounced a year later, with the former accounting for 56 million and the latter 57 million. Even though the US recorded a 1 million increase in the count of arrivals, it only represented 1,5% rise, 0,3% lower than Spain. France, despite remaining unchanged with 76 million tourists, topped the chart in both years.
The remaining countries, particularly Turkey and China, saw a double-digit growth, increasing by 12 million visitors, from 33 million and 22 million in 2009, respectively. While Italy saw a single-digit rise, 44 million to 45 million tourists, Germany recorded the most significant growth, representing 109% change, reaching 23 million visits in 2010. Hong Kong, in contrast, was the only country exhibiting an 11% decrease to 9 million tourists in a closing year, representing the lowest number of tourists.
