The table illustrates the percentages of consumer expenditure on different items in the countries namely, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Turkey in 2002. Overall, the major portion of income of customers was spent on food, drinks or tobacco in all five countries, while the least expense of customers was leisure or education.
Turkey was responsible for the highest percentage of consumerism in food/drinks/tobacco at 32.14% out of all of the five countries, as well as it also accounted for the highest percentage of expenditure on leisure/education among all five countries.In contrast, Sweden accounted for the lowest proportion of expenditure of customers, being 15.77% on food/drinks/tobacco of all the countries and also had the lowest percentage of spending on clothing/footwear out of all the countries. Spain marked the lowest expenditure in terms of leisure/education out of the five countries, at 1.98%.
Italy accounted for the highest consumer rate in clothing/footwear category, at 9%, while being the second lowest in the food/drinks/tobacco category out of the five countries.Ireland was responsible for the percentage of second highest expenditures in food/drinks/tobacco at 28.91%, while being the second lowest in leisure/education category being 2.21%.
