The table compares the number of international tourist arrivals to nine different countries in 2009 and 2010, as well as the percentage change over this period.
Overall, France remained the most popular destination in both years, while most countries experienced growth in visitor numbers. Germany and China saw particularly significant increases, whereas Hong Kong was the only destination to record a decline.
In 2009, France received 76 million international visitors, and this figure remained unchanged in 2010. The United States and Spain followed, attracting 66 and 55 million tourists respectively in 2009, with both countries experiencing modest growth of around 1.5-1.8% the following year. The UK showed a stronger rise, increasing from 55 million to 57 million visitors, equivalent to a 3.6% growth. Similarly, Italy recorded a small increase of 2.3%, reaching 45 million arrivals in 2010.
More dramatic changes were observed in some countries. Tourist numbers in Turkey rose sharply from 33 million to 45 million, representing a 33% increase. China also saw substantial growth of 55%, while Germany doubled its international arrivals from 11 million to 23 million. In contrast, Hong Kong experienced an 11% decrease, falling slightly from 10 million visitors in 2009 to 9 million in 2010.
