The table depicts how many mobile phones were purchased from five different companies per year between 2006 and 2012. Overall, it is clear that Apple phones were not available in 2006, but they passed various brands in the end as the majority of the market experienced a decline.
Aside from Nokia, the two remaining brands, Motorioa and Ericsson, experienced significant sales drops. With 345 million phones sold in 2006, Nokia’s figure peaked at 475, then fluctuated somewhat before settling at 10 less than the starting position. Meanwhile, despite the fact that Ericosson’s initial sales were one-third those of Motoroia, the two were similar in their consistent decrease from 2009, and with both having sold only 28 million phones in 2012.
On the other hand, the buying of both Samsung and Apple phones greatly increased. While Samsung’s sales rose steadily, with around 50 million more every year and tripling its initial sales in the end, Apple saw an even more substantial leap. In 2007, its sales were a mere 2.3 million, yet the number kept doubling over the course of 4 years, from 2008 to 2012, and ended with 135.8 million phones sold.
