The presented tables illustrate the millions of euros which were earned by five European countries with the sales of coffee and bananas in 1999 and 2004. At the first glance, while it is clearly seen that sales of fairtrade-labelled coffee increased in five countries, there was a decrease in two countries of five, Sweden and Denmark, for the sales of fairtrade-labelled bananas throughout the years.
As is observed,in 1999, sales of coffee were 1.5 million in the UK which rose sharply to 20 million in 2004. The millions of euros which were earned in Switzerland with the sales of coffee were doubled and rose 3 million to 6 million between 1999 and 2004. Sales of fairtrade-labelled coffee had a surge of 0.2 million euros in Denmark and Sweden and they reached to 2 million in Denmark and to 1 million in Sweden. In Belgium, there were 1 million euros sales of coffee in 1999 which increased to 1.7 million euros in 2004.
However, for the sales of bananas, there were 15 million euros in Switzerland in 1999 which nearly tripled to 20 million in 2004. In 1999, sales of bananas were 1 million in the UK which reached 5.5 million in 2004. The millions of euros which were earned in Belgium with the sales of bananas surged 0.6 million to 4 million throughout the years. On the other hand, Sweden and Denmark have experienced a decrease in the sales of bananas. Sweden fell from 1.8 million to 1 million and Denmark declined from 2 million to 0.9 million.
