The given tables compare the amount of potatoes consumed and producted in five religions in the world in 2006.
Overall, Europe countries were the biggest potato consumers, while the Africa were considered the smallest in consuming potato. Regarding average quantity of potato consumed, Asian countries produced the highest number, whereas in South and Central America, the production were lowest.
In 2006, European consumed 96.1 kilograms of potatoes per person, a significantly greater amount than the four other continents. Stood in the second place was South and Central American, with the consumption of 57.9 kilograms of potatoes each. Although Asia produced the greatest amount of potatoes, Asian only consumed 25.8 kilograms of potatoes, two time less than in South and Central American countries. North Americans potatoes intake were 23.6 kilograms, while the amount in Africa were very little, only 14.1 kilograms.
Furthermore, it can be seen that Asian countries were the leader in producing potatoes with 131.2 million tons of potatoes produced. Europe also made massive amount of potatoes, average of 126.3 million tons, bring the continents to the first runner up in the industry. By contrast, the three other continents produced considerable fewer amount of potatoes, only 15.6 to 24.7 tons.
