The two charts illustrate the amount of potatoes grown and consumed in 2006 across seven continents. Overall, while Europe consumed the most kilograms of potatoes per person, its potato agriculture came in second place in Asia/Oceania. Africa, on the other hand, ranked lowest in terms of output and consumption.
In terms of kilograms of potatoes eaten per person, Europeans were the most. Asia/Oceania came in third place with 25.8 kilograms, followed by North America in second place with 57.9 kg per person. The ones with the lowest potato usage rates were those in South and Central America (23.6%) and Africa (14.1%).
Turning to the second chart, with 131.2 million tonnes, Asia/Oceania was the top region for potato farming. Furthermore, compared to North America, which produced only 24.7 million tonnes, Europe cultivated 126.3 million tonnes, the second-greatest amount. Finally, South America and Africa came in last with approximately 15 to 16 million.
