Overall, vast majority of smokers (71%) gave up smoking as it’s better for health in general, fewer people (12%) quitted smoking as a consequence of the present health issues. Furthermore, 31% of smokers sited financial difficulties of affording cigarettes, meanwhile, 25% of individuals decided to stop smoking since there’re possibilities of getting smoking-related illnesses. Moreover, 16% of smokers have faced family pressure on smoking cessation, while 12 percent mentioned present health problems.
In regards of the timeline, 35 percent of smokers intend to quit smoking within the next 6 months, although fewer people cited plans to quit smoking within the next year. Moreover, only 12 percent of them will to stop smoking in less than a month. In total, the percentage of smokers who attempt to quit smoking is 71 percent, however there are 29 percent of them who don’t express desire of smoking cessation.
