The tables below show the working time ofmales and females in different regions in the year 2002.In generall, men worked longer hours than women in all regions, with part-time women workers recording the lowest figures, particularly in the UK.
Regarding full-time work, men consistently worked more hours than women, except in the Netherlands where both genders worked 38 hours per week. Greece had the highest full-time working hours for men, at 42.5 hours, compared with 39.9 hours for women. In the UK, male full-time workers averaged 37.5 hours, slightly more than females at 37 hours. The European average also showed men working longer hours than women.
By contrast, part-time working hours were lower across all regions. Women usually worked fewer hours than men, with the lowest figure recorded among part-time women in the UK at 28 hours. The European average showed comparatively higher part-time hours, especially for women.
