The bar chart depicts the consumption of main sources of energy in the USA over a ten – year period from 1980 to 1990
Overall, oil was the primary sources of energy in the USA both years, while hydroelectric power was used the least. Besides, the use of oil had reduced and replaced by the use of nuclear power.
As can be seen from the chart, oil was the main energy source in the USA which was 42% in 1980. The second – highest percentage of energy production was the natural gas which accounting for 26% in the same period. Coal supplied 22% energy demanded in the USA, whereas hydroelectric power and nuclear power both supplied 5% of the the total energy.
In the next decade, the percentage of using oil decreases at 33% in the 1990, which was 9% less than the previous decade, on the contrary it remained the highest percentage of energy sources in this 90’s. The proportion of nuclear power in 1990 was double the proportion in 1980. The percentage of using hydroelectric power leveled out at 5% in this period. Finally, the rate of two other sources of energy namely coal and natural gas remained almost unchanged, respectively 27% and 25%.
