The maps illustrate the developments in Dalton town between 1815 and 2015.

Overall, in 1815, Dalton town was a rural area with forest, hall farm, a few settlements and much livestock. By 2015, Dalton had become a much more urbanized and developed town, with new facilities such as an industrial zone, a hotel, an airport, a school and a hospital replacing much of the former farmland and forest. Moreover, the population in 2015 was denser than that of 1815, as well as the expansion of traffic systems and the addition of a bridge.

As for the west side of the river, in 1815, the whole area was covered by forest and a ford. By 2015, the ford was replaced by a bridge connecting both sides of the river, along with a new road which was extended northwards. The forest was replaced by various new facilities. Several houses were built to the west of the northern road, while a hospital surrounded by several trees was built to the east. Additionally, a new industrial zone was located in the south of the area and along both sides of the western road.

Turning to the east side, the area was mainly occupied by hall farm and open farmland initially with some livestock and a few houses which were sparsely populated. In addition, there was a small path leading south towards the ford. By 2015, most of the farmland had been cleared and replaced by new buildings, including a school in the centre and an airport to the north of the River Dal, while a hotel was added on the eastern edge of the town. Furthermore, the old path was replaced by a main road running north to south, linking the new bridge with the other roads in the town.
