The two pie chart illustrate the proportion of the industry sector’s contribution to the economy of Turkey between 2000 and 2016.
Overall, the by far the highest share of economy was observed in agriculture at the beginning of the period, while the reverse was true for Construction, which recorded the lowest percentages. It is also noteworthy that, Healthcare and Education remained a dominant category by the end of the timeframe.
In 2000, 24% of economy was seen in Agriculture, which was twice higher than that of government. The rate of economy in Leisure and hospitality and also healthcare and Education showed similar patterns at 17%, standing the second highest categories in 2000. Although economy of Turkey in trade, ubilities and transportation sectors made up 14%, the percentage of economy in manufacturing, finance, business and other and construction experienced almost similar rates at 8%, 5% and 3% respectively.
By 2016, there were signifcant growths in construction and manufacturing from 3% and 8% to 10% and 12% between 2000 and 2016. Furthermore, the proportion of economy in trade, ubilities and transportation was significantly higher than that of finance, business and other at 16%, compared to 8% in 2016. By comparison, a noticeable reduction was observed in agriculture’s economy to 14%, whereas leisure and hospitality and also government stood at 14% and 9% respectively at the end of the period. In addition, the percentage of Turkey economy in healthcare and education remained unchanged throughout the period, while the figure dominated in terms of contribution to the economy of Turkey in 2016.
