The provided pie charts illustrate the percentage of individuals in specific genders arrested over the five years- period, starting from 1989, while the bar chart gives the information about the recent reasons why they were arrested.
Overall, it is apparent that the proportion of males arrested was higher than that of females. In addition, it can be seen that people in both genders arrested due to public drinking made up for the predominant segment compared to other breaches.
With regard to the pie charts, the percentage of males arrested stood at 32% more than that of females which was only 9%. Hence, the amount of women who did not commit a crime (91%) was higher compared to that of men (68%).
Looking at the bar chart, it can be seen that the most common offense that both genders committed was public drinking with over 30% of males and over 35% of females. Following this was drinking driving. The proportion of men caught by this reason was about 25% – twice as high as compared to women’s proportion with nearly 15%. The data of people arrested due to theft and breach of other were rather approximate with over 15% for males and under 15% for females. The figure of other reasons in both genders was relatively similar since they appeared to be nearly 20%. Finally, with only under 5% of men and more than 5% of women committed, “no answer” was the least common category.
