The tables give data about the number of students exchanged universities from Europe to Australia and from Australia to Europe between 2007 and 2009.
Overall, Germany witnessed almost a threefold increase in the number of students going to Australia surpassing France, which had previously been the leading country. The students from Australia mostly went to France over the period.
In the first table, it can be seen that in 2007 France was dominating in the number of students changing their universities to Australia was 61 and at the end of the period it decreased to 60 while the figure for Sweden increased from 34 to 42. The United Kingdom also witnessed a decrease and dropped by 5 from 31. Germany which recorded the biggest change over the period, increased almost threefold starting from 27 to 62 while the figure for the Netherlands remained stable. The total number in 2007 was 189 and over the period increased by 37.
In the second table it can be seen that the Australian students went to France and the figure for that was 37 in 2007 and it increased to 58 at the end of the given period. The figure for Sweden and the UK both witnessed a drop over the period and starting at 33 and 32 the figures decreased to 27 and 23 respectively. The figure for Germany witnessed a notable growth from 18 to 26 and the remaining country, the Netherlands decreased to 18 from 32. The total figure for students exchanged universities to European countries did not change and remained at 152
