The chart illustartes a percentage of the househoulds with vary number of cars in one European country in four different years (1971, 1981, 1991, 2001).
Overall, the data provided in the graph suggests that general pattern in owing a car did not change dramatically. The dominant proportion did not have a car at the start of the period given, the number of the households decreased over the period. The situation for one-car owners had changed gradually until 2001 when there was a noticeable rise. It is also evident that the households with two cars significantly varied during the whole period.
With regards to the households without cars, it began just under a half, than went down in the next 20 years to about 30 percent and remained unchanged in the end of the period. Likewise, the number of one-car owners slightly dipped to approximatelly a fifth in 1991 and soared to around 43 percent in 2001.
On the other hand, the ownership of one car had an unpredictable fluctutaion. It began with less then a fifth, than rose to roughly one quater before falling dramatically to a 20 percent and than increased again in 2001 to a one-third.
