The table compares four countries in terms of several social and economic indicators in 1994, based on statistics provided by the United Nations.
Overall, Canada and Japan recorded much better figures than Peru and Angola in all categories. Japan had the highest annual income and life expectancy, while Canada provided the greatest daily calorie supply. By contrast, Angola showed the lowest results in nearly every indicator.
In terms of income per person, Japan ranked first with an annual income of $15,760, followed by Canada at $11,100. The figures for Peru and Angola were dramatically lower, at only $160 and $130 respectively. A similar pattern can be seen in life expectancy. People in Japan could expect to live 78 years, slightly higher than Canada’s 76 years. However, life expectancy was much lower in Peru and Angola, at 51 and 47 years.
Regarding food supply, Canada had the highest daily calorie intake per person at 3,326 calories, compared with 2,846 in Japan. Peru and Angola again lagged behind, with 1,927 and 1,749 calories respectively.
