In addition, fruit and vegetables accounted for the largest proportion of spending in 2013, whereas meat and fish were the biggest category in 2010.
In 2010, the average family income was about 29,000, while around 14,000 was spent on food and clothes. Meat and fish made up the largest share at 29%. Fruit and vegetables accounted for 26% of the spending. Dairy products represented 17%, while other food made up 18%. Clothes had the smallest proportion at 15%.
By 2013, the family income had fallen to 25,000, but spending on food and clothes increased to 15,000. Fruit and vegetables became the largest category, rising to 30%.
However, spending on meat and fish decreased to 23%. Dairy products dropped slightly to 16%, and clothes also decreased to 13%, while other food remained stable at 18%.
