Dear Mr. Martin,
Hope this email finds you in good health. Further to the discussion we had last week while finalizing the employment offer, I am writing to request a change in the previously agreed joining date due to some unforeseen circumstances.
Regrettably, last night my daughter, who has just turned three last month, fell off the bed and fractured her shoulder bone. To attend to her injury immediately, I rushed her to the immediate care service at the nearby hospital just to find out that she would require at least two weeks of complete rest. Moreover, it has also been advised that she needs to refrain from any physical activity that could put a strain on the shoulders.
My spouse, an air traffic controller has varying work schedule, and her service requires her to be on duty in the off-work hours, if need be. Moreover, due to certain operational reasons, she has been advised to avoid taking leave from work until end of this month. Hence, the nature of work makes it very difficult for herself to attend my daughter for the entire day and leaves me with no other option than to take some time off and do the caring job.
In wake of this difficult situation at home, it would be helpful if my joining could be extended to beginning of next month. This would certainly allow me and spouse enough time to manage our daughter’s treatment and work simultaneously.
Your kind consideration is highly appreciated.
Yours sincerely,
Muhammad Faizan
