The given chart provides information about the proportion of money spent in Turkey from 1960 to 2000.
Overall, it is evident that food is the field that declined most dramatically during these 40 years.
Trends concerning leisure, transport, and energy followed a similar line, demonstrating a slight decline. Energy decreased gradually from around 5% to almost 0%. Similarly, transport experienced a drop from 10% to 4%, with a peak in the last decade. Leisure’s figure also slowly fell over, as at the beginning of the research it was around 20%, while in 2000 it reached 12%.
Food spending saw the most dramatic drop, as it collapsed from 35% to 15%.
By contrast, clothing trends rose gradually from 9% to 17%, revealing itself as the only increasing sector. In particular, transport and clothing showed the opposite trend, as both spending percentages were around 10% in the beginning, but while one increased, the other declined.
