In 1985, nearly a quarter of students opted for modern languages courses including French, German and Spanish, closely followed by fitness and dance at 22%. In comparison, the figures for cookery, art, local history and music appreciation were significantly lower, at 14%, 17%, 15% and 8%, respectively.
In the current year, the percentage of students taking modern languages has decreased sharply by 17%. Meanwhile, art courses has also declined, but at a slower rate of 15%. In contrast, the percentage of students in IT, a new addition, has surged to 27%, making it the most popular course offered. Similarly, cookery has risen considerably to 19%. Finally, while the proportion of students enrolling in fitness and dance courses remains stable at 22%, music appreciation is no longer offered at the centre.
