Dear Marc,
I hope this letter find you well. I regret to inform you that I cannnot make it to your birthday celebration due to a sudden professional commitment that has arisen today, which is an unavoidable legitimate reason.
I have been selected for an interview for a Design Engineer position in a reputed international company, which is scheduled for the day following your birthday. I learned this through one of the emails I received today. After a year of trials, I have received an interview invitation. I am very excited and nervous at the same time. As I only have four days left, I want to utilize any free time in preparing to make sure I give my best in the interview to get selected for my dream role. I couldn’t let you know any sooner than now, as I received the invitation today. It hurts to say that I cannot attend your birthday party, considering my schedule and the importance of the opportunity I received.
I really feel sorry for not being able to make it on your birthday celebrations; please accept my apologies. However, I would really love to see you on the first weekend after your birthday. Why don’t we see each other on Saturday at 6 PM to have a pint of beer and food together?
I hope you understand my situation, and I really look forward to meeting you on the first Saturday or Sunday after your birthday. Thank you so much for being a friend who always understands me and aligns with any situation.
Best regards,
Mani
