Nowadays, the tendency in which parents often accommodate children’s every demand and give them more personal freedom has become increasingly prevalent. This essay attempts to prove the detrimental impacts of this child-rearing practice on children before clarifying its long-term repercussions that continue into their adulthood
Parents may inadvertently spoil their offspring by fulfilling all of their wishes. One negative ramification is that children who are often granted every request are more likely to be overly reliant on others. This, consequently, would deprive them of the ability to live independently and motivation to work towards their own goals, which could have undesirable influences on their school performance, for example. As these children become adults, the inability to be fully independent may cause them to struggle in various facets of life. To be more specific, people who were often pampered by their parents when they were young often lack motivation and perseverance, making it more difficult for them to stay the course and attain their own goals, irrespective of what fields they pursue.
In addition to overindulging children, being given too much personal freedom would have an adverse bearing on children’s personal qualities, especially when young kids are more vulnerable to negative influences. This perception could be reinforced by the fact that numerous children in Vietnam use profanities from a very young age because their parents allow them to play video games at internet cafes where cursing is the norm. This type of behavior may be a precursor to a rebellious adolescence and a troubled adulthood. In fact, there has been sufficient evidence demonstrating that many criminals began rebelling and committing illegal acts at an early stage of their lives as a result of their parents’ negligence. This is a powerful testament to how an unsupervised childhood could phut children’s whole future in jeopardy.
In conclusion, overindulging children, coupled with giving them too much freedom, takes a heavy toll on their personal development, and I am convinced that this practice should be rejected to ensure that they enjoy a healthy lifestyle as adults.
