One of the most life-changing experiences I’ve had in the past three years was joining the Y-Peer volunteer club. I found out about this club from my friends and thought it would be a great opportunity to learn something new. I started attending the sessions, and now I’m so glad that I once made the decision to take that first step, because it gave me unforgettable memories and emotions.
Every Saturday, I made no other plans, because I knew I would be going to Y-Peer. Each time, I received new information that I knew could help me in life. One day, I even led a training on the topic of bullying. At first, it was hard — I was scared, anxious, and nervous — but everything went well thanks to the people who sat and listened to me with interest and support.
Since I started attending Y-Peer, I’ve become more open, confident, and ready for change. I met new people, communicated with them, played games together, and sometimes we presented mini-projects to show our understanding of the topics we covered. I’m really happy that as a teenager, I learned how to protect myself, how to respond to bullying, and how to be more cautious in general.
I realized I’ve become more mature, smarter, and stronger. I’m truly grateful to the people who gave me such amazing emotions, knowledge, and opportunities.
