In recent years, water access has become a matter of considerable debates and concerns. Some people argue that every home should be provided free water supplement. Personally, I agree that water access is basic human right, but I completely disagree that water provision should be for free, and I will outline the reasons in the following essay.
On the one hand, it cannot be denied that having clean source of water is accessible for all people in the world. Commence, water accounts for 70 per cent of human body, meaning that human must drink water to maintain living, and have right to absorb well-qualified sources. Low quality water can cause a lot of diseases on people’s bodies. Chemical elements, bacteria, and so on dirties in the water are the reasons of asthma, lung cancer, acid flux, … while clear water can benefit the human body, for instance, in addition of minerals, the minor amount of calcium and necessary metals were added. Moreover, the untreated water, which is so-called “hard water”, can affect worse on newborn or elderly because of low resistance system. As a result, treated water plays a significant role in residents’ daily life and governments are trying to ensure that all the people can access to clean water.
On the other hand, free provision of water supplement is absurd. This change can cause overusing water and be unfair with the inhabitants who live in the area which can be easily affected by drought. For example, some countries in Africa are drought nearly whole year; the people live in those places cannot access the clean water easily. Some children have to drink dirty water to maintain their lives. Most of people in the world will use water excessively because they do not need to worry about charges anymore. I believe that this will cause deaths and anger of people who live in drought and bad-weather areas over the world.
In conclusion, although it is certain that clear water supplements is accessible to all people, I think that governments have to remain the charge of water usage for the residents.
