In this modern era, higher rates of urbanization present positive and negative impacts on many sectors of human life. However, this tendency may cause environmental deterioration which leads to air pollution and global warming, exhibiting serious effects on human health. A multitude of steps is required to be done by both the government and individuals to tackle this problem.
Starting from the high concentration of traffic and industries in big cities, are the main factors that contribute to air pollution. Numerous health problems will emerge as long as people breathe poor quality air for a long time, for instance, respiratory infections, heart disease, and cancer. To overcome this, firstly, the government should develop efficient public transport systems like improving bus services and light rail networks or making bike-sharing schemes in order to reduce the number of traffic. The policies made by the government should regulate the existence of industries, including the implementation of an efficient ventilation system. As a good citizen, it would be appropriate if people use public transportation or ride a bike instead of driving. Doing reforestation like planting trees and other vegetation to produce shade is one of the best way options for the public to improve air quality.
What’s more, utilizing energy intensively, such as the use of air conditioning, heating, and lighting, leads to a significant growth of gas emissions and causes global warming. This environmental damage getting worse because the demand for energy and resources has skyrocketed in recent years because of the easiness of getting anything at any time. Therefore, the government must encourage sustainable development in the entire aspects to every single side, for example using renewable energy and energy-efficient appliances, creating green space preservation, and applying environmentally friendly materials in construction. From individuals’ perspectives, this problem can be solved by installing solar panels or acquiring energy-conscious habits like turning off the lights when people are not using them and disconnecting the devices when not in use.
On a final note, ecological degradation in urban areas like air pollution and global warming, should be unraveled by the government and individuals. Expanding adequate public transport systems, generating the management of industries, and fostering sustainable development can be done by the government, whereas the residents may use public transportation, do reforestation, install solar panels, and adjust energy-conscious habits.
