It is widely observed that artists, influencers, and sports professionals become famous and have many fans. Although fame can be highly beneficial for financial well-being and social privilege, it also carries potential risks related to privacy. In my opinion, the advantages of being a celebrity outweigh the disadvantages.
One major benefit of being a celebrity is the opportunity to earn a higher income. Working in the entertainment industry often generates significant financial rewards, even from a single project. Emma Watson, for example, obtained millions of dollars from one film, Beauty and the Beast. This payment was more than ten times the annual salary of an average office worker. It demonstrates that fame can lead to remarkable financial advantages that are rarely attainable in ordinary professions. Additionally, famous people usually receive priority in many places, such as being offered a VIP room in restaurants even when they are fully booked.
On the other hand, many celebrities are unable to enjoy private moments due to the public’s intense interest. Every activity they do is turned into an event, as people around them take photos without their consent. Some obsessive fans even try to breach security and enter their residences, which can lead to physical threats and make them feel anxious. Studies conducted in South Korea show that more than half of Korean singers have gone on hiatus to improve their mental health.
In conclusion, it is clear that fame inevitably comes with serious risks. However, the advantages, particularly receiving special privileges and gaining greater financial stability, clearly outweigh these drawbacks. Moreover, financial resources can help celebrities heal from stress and protect their privacy.
