Band 7+: Children find it difficult to concentrate on or pay attention to school. What are the reasons ? How can we solve this problem?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In this day and age, children struggle with concentration and attention in school. This essay will explain the reasons behind this phenomenon and propose potential solutions to address issues.

To begin with, there are several reasons why children are often distracted or not focused in class. Firstly, one main reason is technological advancements. Children nowadays are exposed to technology such as computers, smartphones or other high-tech recreational tools at an early age, leading to excessive time spent on these devices instead of studying, resulting in addiction and neglect of their studies. Another reason for this phenomenon is the lack of sleep among children. Children who do not get enough sleep often feel tired and struggle to stay awake in class, which negatively affects their academic performance, causing boredom with studying and difficulty staying focused during lessons. As a result, health problems and technology have a great influence on children’s attention in school.

To address this problem, various effective solutions need to be applied. One solution is for parents to manage and limit the time their children spend on electronic devices. For example, parents should allow their children to play computer games or use social media for only 1 to 2 hours a day after they have completed their homework. Moreover, ensuring that children get sufficient and quality sleep is also crucial for their studies, as it enhances their concentration. Another solution is for parents to cooperate with schools by regularly communicating with teachers to stay updated on their child’s learning progress and to find appropriate support measures to help them stay focused in school. Therefore, combining diverse measures will help improve children’s learning efficiency.

In conclusion, the rampant technological distractions and inadequate sleep contribute to the declining ability to concentrate among students today. To improve the situation, it is imperative to have supervision from parents and schools.
