Band 6+: Competition for university study is becoming increasingly strong. Why are universities becoming more competitive? Is this a positive or negative development?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In recent years, the demand for universities has become increase in many developed countries. Thus, competition occurs among universities. Although this trend causes to some negative attitudes, I believe it represents a highly positive development.

One primary reason why competition is becoming increasingly strong among universities has to do with finances. The demand for well-trained workers is increasing in workforces. This is because, individuals try to enter universities and gain diploma in order to work in good positions. One issue associated with the demand among people is that it leads to greater competition and affect the quality of study. In other words, businessmen try to open private universities in order to make a profit. As a result of this attitude, they do not pay attention to quality, instead their main purpose is attracting students and creating new positions so that gain money, especially in my home country of Uzbekistan.

Despite these disadvantages, I still argue that being competitive gets good results in the future. Since many people can have chance to enter universities and study. It will provide with qualified workers in the industries or companies. Another benefit of this development is that leaders try to improve conditions and increase the number of masters, when competition rise. Germany is a pertinent example; not only native students, foreign students also join German universities due to the quality and providing with work in the future. Students have a wide range of options to study where they want. This is because, there have a lot of universities, thus, leaders try to keep reputation. Students have a wide range of options to study where they want.

In conclusion, the chief reason behind competitions is related to quality of the study. I firmly believe that this development is overwhelmingly positive, as it provides well-trained workers who contribute the improvements of country’s economy.
