Being a fitness enthusiast, learning boxing was always one of my dreams. Boxing is a high intensity workout that helps in development of endurance, core strength, acts as stress reliever, enhances cardiovascular health, builds strength, improves agility, and promotes overall physical fitness. So I joined a 5 month boxing bag program in 2023. It demanded discipline, adherence to routines, and a strong work ethic. In the initial stages of training, the excitement of learning new skills is palpable. Yet, with time the practice can become monotonous and draining, testing mental fortitude. Through resilience, focused attention, and the ability to stay composed under stress, I developed the capacity to maintain a consistent routine. It focuses on your core with rigorous drill sessions, pushing the physical boundaries. Overcoming it required an unwavering attitude and persistent determination. It demands teamwork, as it involves practising with the opponent, and developing a refined coordination. Through consistent adherence to a disciplined routine and maintaining mental composure, I observed the beneficial impact of boxing on my physical endurance.
On the other hand, I faced failure in the UPSC. It is an interdisciplinary test, covering a wide range of subjects, including history, geography, economics, political science, science and technology, and more. It is a never ending curriculum as it links the past with current dynamics generating new information. The preparation demands analytical skills, time management, resilience, information retention, working memory, empathy, dedicated study hours and much more. Upon thorough analysis of the factors contributing to the undesired outcome, a significant issue emerged – time constraint. Excelling in the UPSC exam demands substantial time and effort. While I devoted effort to my preparation, being a working professional limited the time I could allocate to each subject, impacting the comprehensiveness of my study. Furthermore, the diverse knowledge required for UPSC necessitates memory retention; for instance, covering the vast expanse of history.
Setting unrealistic goals or expecting immediate success without understanding the long and challenging nature of the UPSC journey, was also one of the overlooked factors.
Reflecting on these experiences, I have come to appreciate the valuable lessons derived from both my failures and successes, as they have collectively molded my aspirations and approach to life. My past experiences have been instrumental in shaping my outlook and guiding my future endeavors.
