Although art and music are important parts of culture and personal expression, I do not agree that they should be compulsory for all students in secondary school. Making these subjects a requirement may not benefit every student and could limit their ability to focus on more relevant academic or career paths.
Firstly, not all students are interested in or talented in artistic subjects. For some, studying art and music might feel unnecessary or even stressful. Forcing students to take these classes could reduce their motivation and affect their overall performance in school. Education should be personalized to meet the needs and strengths of each student, not follow a one-size-fits-all approach.
Secondly, students in secondary school already have a full schedule with subjects like science, mathematics, and languages. These areas are often more useful for future careers and university studies. If students are required to take art and music, they may have less time to concentrate on the subjects that matter most for their goals.
