Band 7+: Every country should have a free health service, even if this means that the latest medical treatments may not be available through the service because they are too expensive. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

A free healthcare system is an important part of a fair society. While some argue that it is too costly and may not include the latest treatments, I believe that free basic health services are essential for every country.

To begin with, a public health system can treat common illnesses and help keep people in good health. While rare or complex diseases might require larger hospitals, many illnesses like sore throats, fevers, or minor infections can be treated at local clinics. Without access to free care, people may avoid treatment, and their condition could worsen. For example, in my hometown of Hangzhou, the city provides health insurance that covers most medical costs. When I was a child, I visited the hospital frequently due to allergies, and the system helped my family avoid financial stress.

Secondly, free healthcare gives people peace of mind. Knowing that they can get treatment without worrying about the cost helps reduce anxiety. It supports not only physical well-being but also mental health. People who feel supported are more likely to stay healthy and productive. Without it, those in need might delay care or suffer in silence, especially in poorer areas.

In conclusion, every country should offer free healthcare. It helps protect people from serious illness, reduces stress, and promotes equality. While advanced treatments may not always be free, basic services must be available to everyone.
