Public transportation has been developing, requiring a large amount of money in numerous countries. The dispute over whether money should be spent on rapid railways or it should be used to foster existing transportation is an ongoing debate. In my opinion, even though both arguments have offered beneficial advancements, the development of present facilities is considerably more crucial than the fast train improvement.

Firstly, it is evident that the current public transportation is inevitably related to the effectiveness of people’s mobilization. As an implication, owning the available facilities, supporting dwellers’ activities in terms of reaching certain destinations in a country will positively affect productivity as a population whose number increases. Therefore, the governments should enhance the present availability of the mobility system to ensure it is capable of addressing people’s regular movement. The Light Railway Trains (LRT) track in Jakarta, Indonesia, for instance, has been extended to connect to several locations such as Bekasi and Tangerang, which were not reached previously. As a consequence, this enlargement has an immediate result on people’s productive undertakings because of the more feasible access provided.

Secondly, sophisticated facilities, owned by developed countries, are widely adapted by developing countries in order to showcase the latter’s growth, particularly in the latest transportation. It has been viewed that transportational adaptation is valued on a global scale by possessing the latest technology, including the high-speed trains. In response, governments have established systems that incorporate this innovation through the fast train concept. For example, the accelerated railcar, namely KCIC, connecting the Central Airport to Bandung, has proven that it only takes 30 minutes for hauling compared to the tollway direction that takes 4 hours. However, this advancement is not as significant as the previous notion, which produces more immediate effects on people by enhancing existing facilities.

To recapitulate, the substantial amount of money allocated for both existing transportation and rapid railways provide a broad accessibility and exciting advancements in transportation, respectively. I believe that the government should prioritize the former’s stance due to its immediate outcomes in response to a growing population.
