Band 6+: In many countries students concentration in the classroom has decreased.what are the reason for this.what are some possible solution

In contemporary society, concentration of many students in the classroom has decreased significantly. This essay will discuss how social media and lack of face-to-face interractions have influenced this phenomenon as well as actions that governments and parents can take to regulate it.

One major reason for lack of focus during classes is internet, spesifically social media. Teenagers all around the world spend majority of their free time behind a screen, often times watching short videos or scrolling through social media platforms. These activities make people focus on what they do only for a short amount of time. As a result attention span of youth decreases rapidly. Another reason is absence of face-to-face interraction in a daily life of students. With a development of technology students do not feel the need to communicate with people in real life occasion and often opt for online communication. This makes focusing on human speech much harder in real time than through online interraction applications. For instance, studies have shown that in Australia, students who have spend more than 8 hours in a day on social media without real human interration have 3 times shorter attention span than that of socially active students.

One solution for this occuring issue is through government policies. Nations could implement time regulation policy that would not allow students to spend more than 3 hours in a day on the internet. This could help youth to develop hobbies that they can focus on, as well as improve their communication and time management skills. Moreover, parents could influnce their children to spend more time outside and engage in networking and socialising. Consequently, students would be able to make important connections that could benefit their carreer and broaden their horizon. For example, government of Norway had encouraged parental control and had implemented a regulatory policy on some social media applications, that do not allow people under 16 to spend more than 180 minutes on their websites.

In conclusion, consentration of students in classrooms has been declining rapidly. Social media and absence of face-to-face interractions are two major contributing factors of this issue, however it can be solved through parental guidance and government intervention.
