Cause And Solution

Band 9: In many parts of the world, there is not enough food for everyone. What do you think are the causes of this? What solutions can you suggest?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In many regions, many people are suffering from a lack of food. This essay will elaborate on the causes of this problem and suggest some possible ways to solve it.

One major cause is the shortage of arable land for agricultural development. In some places, the climate can be significantly hostile, and the land is not fertile enough to grow any plants for subsistence, so food insecurity is unavoidable. This can be seen in some parts of Africa, where it is extremely difficult to grow enough vegetables or rice due to the extremely harsh weather. That is why the majority of children are either hungry or malnourished, compared to their counterparts in other countries and regions. To tackle this problem, the governments should invest in agricultural technologies and improve effective farming methods that enable food production in harsh climates. For example, drought-resistant crops, greenhouse farming, and modern irrigation systems can help farmers grow food even in areas with poor soil and limited rainfall. As a result, agricultural productivity can be improved, reducing food insecurity in vulnerable regions.

Another significant reason for hunger is war. In some parts of the world ravaged by war, there is not enough food for everyone because farmland is being destroyed and farmers are fleeing their countries. Moreover, during wartime, food supplies are insufficient when countries are mainly reliant on external international aid. War disrupts the entire food supply chain, and people have no choice but to wait for the government to provide food, but it is not enough, so they are still hungry every day. To address this issue, governments and international organizations should work together to provide emergency food aid to populations affected by conflicts. In addition, greater efforts should be made to promote peace and political stability, which would allow farmers to return to their land and resume agricultural activities.

In conclusion, the problem of a lack of food can result from the underdeveloped agriculture and the consequences of wars, and it can be addressed through improved agricultural practices and humanitarian assistance. If we do not solve this problem now, many people may die of starvation in the future.
