Fees for higher education are expensive and not affordable for everyone so according to some university should be free for all regardless of their background. In my opinion, I agree that tertiary education ought to be free for everyone as it will greatly benefit both individuals and society.
A good reason for university to abolish fees is that all students irrespective of being poor or rich will gain equal rights to education. At present, majority of people are prevented from pursuing higher studies due to their unstable financial conditions, excluding a large portion of society leading to discrimination among people. On the other hand, education free from all costs would give them the freedom to achieve their dreams without spending a penny.
Another point to consider is that getting rid of college fees will allow students to be more indulged in their academics instead of doing part-time work to manage the cost of their education. For example, half of the students take on paid jobs along with their university in order to support themselves financially, among them some have to discontinue their higher education as there are limited work opportunities. Free education, however, will benefit all individuals as they will no longer have to work during their studies.
Finally, free university will benefit society in the long run, simply for the reason that it will lead to more knowledgeable and skilled individuals. Colleges providing education free of cost will attract a major section of the country, resulting in more professionals benefiting the nation’s overall development and prosperity.
In conclusion, education ought to be free in any country that aims to remove discrimination and want to become a leading one. The cost of education will be recouped many times over the benefits it brings.
