#task2
Recent years have witnessed a substantial rise in drilling oil resources from far-flung areas in the world. This is considered to have been economically beneficial for some nations, while it is also stated that oil drilling operations have caused environmental concerns, in my view, drilling oil is detrimental to environment and this makes its benefits insignificant.
There exist several reasons why digging oil proves to be economically advantageous to some countries. The primary reason is that oil powers almost anything in the world of industry and technology, so there is always demand for this resource. Oil-rich countries have started to search for oil from previously untouched areas to satisfy that demand, eyeing the potential to make huge sums of money. For example, Russia has even managed to find oil resources under the land mass in the Arctic sea with the aim of making profit. Additionally, oil is figuratively comparable to blood since industry stops without it, causing a great deal of financial loss for countries dependent on it. Hence, if they drill oil, they can run industry and improve their economy.
However, I side with those who underscore negative effects of drilling oil on ecology .This is firstly because when oil is burned, tonnes of harmful gases rise into atmosphere and start eroding ozone layer, which in turn leads to global warming. Air pollution also has to be mentioned. It stems from fumes coming out of millions of petrol-powered cars and other toxic gases from factories that run using oil. Besides, drilling oil delays the process of developing the ways of harnessing energy. Relying on oil, the urgent need for renewable energy is not felt and met, which means that burning oil keeps harming our environment.
In conclusion, it is true that some nations are drilling oil from untouched locations targeting huge profits. Nevertheless, I believe that searching for access to oil in any part of the world works against our environment.
